   Kenmare reports revenue up 83 per cent
 
 

The Irish company Kenmare Resources has announced a significant increase in revenue over the last year. In 2011 its revenue rose to 167.5 million US dollars, compared with 91.6 million dollars the year before.

   Ncondezi to support joint study on export routes
 
 

The British-based coal company Ncondezi announced on 18 January that it is to form a partnership with Rio Tinto Coal Mozambique and Minas de Revuboe to look at the construction of a new railway and port to export the huge coal reserves from their concessions in the western province of Tete.

The Mozambican Ministry for the Coordination of Environmental Action (MICOA) and the Eduardo Mondlane University (UEM) signed a memorandum of understanding in Maputo on 10 January establishing the bases for university training of MICOA staff.

   Globe Metals and Mining to expand operations in Memba
 
 

The Australian company Globe Metals and Mining has announced it now has the option to acquire up to a 90 per cent interest in a further five licences in an ilmenite (iron titanium oxide) and vanadium rich area of Memba district in the northern Mozambican province of Nampula.

Videocon Industries, an Indian company which is part of a consortium exploring for hydrocarbons in the Rovuma Basin, off the coast of the northern Mozambican province of Cabo Delgado, has expressed its intention of selling in India its quota of the natural gas exploited in Mozambique.

Anadarko reaches agreement with JERA and CPC
 
The Anadarko Petroleum Corporation on Monday announced that the Mozambique LNG1 Company, owned by Anadarko and its partners in exploiting the natural gas in Area One of the Rovuma Basin, off the coast of the northern Mozambican province of Cabo Delgado, has signed a Sale and Purchase Agreement (SPA)

Cyclone Idai wiped out over 80,000 hectares of crops
 
A complete assessment of the impact of cyclone Idai on Mozambican agriculture shows that it devastated 813,000 hectares of crops in the 71 districts affected by the cyclone, according to Agriculture Minister Higino de Marrule.
