The Mozambican government on Friday signed a memorandum of understanding with the International Fertiliser Development Centre (IFDC) on implanting a fertiliser industry, using the organic material and minerals (such as phosphates) available in the country.

   Giant coal mine takes shape at Benga
 
 

We are standing on the rim of a large hole, which is a few metres deep. It doesn’t look much like an open cast coal mine yet, but officials of the Australian company, Riversdale Mining, are confident that in September Benga will be sending shipments of hard coking coal to world markets.

New chairperson for telecoms companies
 
The shareholders of Mozambique’s two publicly owned telecommunications companies, TDM (which runs the network of fixed lines), and the mobile telephony company MCel, met on 8 June and elected Mohamed Rafique Jusob as chairperson of the board of directors of both companies.
